3 Time Management Skills That Help Increase Productivity
Our time is one of our most precious resources and many of us are looking for ways to improve our time management skills and thus increase our productivity. Don’t let poor time management simply become a bad habit, learn to organize and control your time and what is done with it. It is important that we learn to use it wisely because the better we become at managing it, the more productive we will become.
Here are three time management skills outlined by FORBES that can help increase productivity:
1. Its OK to say No
By committing to too many projects, the quality of your work can fall short, which might be the same as not doing it at all. Prioritize and decide what tasks and commitments is the best use of your time.
2. Schedule Appointments with Yourself
Be sure to schedule time for yourself for planning, brainstorming, or to work on other creative projects just as you would for any other appointment. For the duration of the appointment, turn off your mobile devices so that you are truly unreachable. Without these to distract you your productivity will sky rocket.
3. Overestimate and prepare for interruptions
Try to overestimate how long your tasks will take to complete. If interruptions such as the friendly neighbor or never ending weekly meetings that continue to steal away time and break concentration, try to schedule them in advance. Anticipate how these will slow you down and plan them in advance or avoid them all together.
Time management is a skill that takes time to develop and perfect. Try a variety of different approaches until you find what works best for you.
